Association of Vitamin D Deficiency with Hypertension in Uninsured Women

Vitamin D deficiency is an epidemic in the United States. Uninsured women are at high risk due to a lower intake of vitamin D and limited sun exposure. We examined the association between vitamin D deficiency and hypertension in 96 uninsured women at a County Free Medical Clinic in urban Michigan. Questionnaires were used to obtain information about demographics, medical history including hypertension, and dietary habits. Measurements including blood pressure and serum 25(OH)D level were also collected. Prevalence of hypertension was higher in subjects with 25(OH)D less than 50nmol/l compared with others (85% vs. 27.3%, p = 0.014). For every 1 nmol/L decrease in serum 25(OH)D, there was an increase in the systolic and diastolic blood pressure by 0.20 (p =0.006) and 0.13 (p =0.003) mm of Hg respectively. These results demonstrate a high prevalence of hypertension in the vitamin D deficient, uninsured female population

E-Business is increasingly reshaping the way businesses operate across the globe. Globally, businesses in the banking and telecoms sectors have been re-engineering their value chains by adopting e-Business presence by means of dot com launches. The second half of the 1990s, however, saw both the rise and subsequent collapse of dot com entities as a major focus of investment interest, with consequent speculation over the viability of this corporate vehicle. The perceived increase in market capitalisation by means of these ventures during the boom period is now not so certain. In this paper, we report the results of a preliminary study which investigated the impact of dot com launches on market capitalisation within the banking and telecoms sectors of Australia and India.<br /

The process of assessing the safety and risk level of a particular region or area in respect to the COVID-19 pandemic is known as COVID-19 Regional Safety Assessment. It involves analyzing various factors, such as the number of active cases, testing and reporting capabilities, vaccination rates, healthcare system capacity, implementation of public health measures, travel restrictions, presence of variants of concern, and localized outbreaks. A complete evaluation of regional safety is necessary for public health professionals, legislators, and residents to successfully prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect public health and wellbeing. Authorities may identify areas of concern, distribute resources wisely, and put targeted measures in place to restrict the virus's spread by performing a thorough examination. In order to restrict the virus's spread and protect the health and welfare of communities, it is crucial for guiding decision-making processes, identifying problem areas, and effectively allocating resources. The research carried out through regional safety assessments advances our knowledge of the pandemic, guides public health initiatives, and encourages the use of evidence-based decision-making in order to effectively battle COVID-19. Distance from Average Solution-Based Evaluation (EDAS)The evaluation based on distance from the average solution approach assesses the efficacy or quality of individual solutions or data points by comparing each solution or data point to the average or mean solution. This approach is commonly employed in various fields, including optimization, data analysis, and decision-making.In this evaluation method, the average solution serves as a reference point or baseline. It is crucial to remember that the evaluation's specific context and goals may influence the choice of the average solution and distance metric. Additionally, other evaluation criteria or metrics may be employed in conjunction with the distance-based evaluation to obtain a more comprehensive assessment of the solutions. China, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Israel, Australia, Austria, Canada, and Efficiency of the government, monitoring and detection, and quarantine Emergency Preparedness, regional resilience, and healthcare readiness .Ranking of the nation based on the Covid-19 Regional Safety Assessment survey. Hungary is shown as occupying the last slot, whereas China is listed as occupying the first spot. It has been noted that China has a significant influence on COVID-19

Moringa concanensis seed fat and its randomized product have been subjected to pancreatic hydrolysis. Glyceride compositions have been calculated from the original fatty acid composition and those of the monoglycerides produced by hydrolysis. The per cent GS3 content of the interesterified product has also been determined by the combined techniques of thin layer chromatography on silver nitrate impregnated silica gel and colorimetry.Peer Reviewedhttps://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/141952/1/lipd0666.pd

Enhanced photocatalytic and antibacterial activity of plasma-reduced silver nanoparticles

Get PDF
A non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma jet has been used for the green synthesis of highly dispersed colloidal silver nanoparticles. The reducing species such as hydrogen radicals and hydrated electrons are identified, and the change in the solution pH is studied during AgNP formation. The structural properties and size of the plasma-reduced silver nanoparticles are characterized via X-ray diffraction, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The size of the colloidal AgNPs is tuned by adjusting the initial concentration of AgNO3. The effect of terephthalic acid, a hydroxyl radical scavenger, on the reduction of Ag+ ion is studied. The typical catalytic activity data indicate the better performance of the plasma-reduced colloidal Ag nanoparticles than that obtained from the chemical reduction method. The antibacterial activity of the plasma-reduced Ag nanoparticles also shows a better performance than that of the chemically reduced AgNPs, highlighting the potential of the plasma reduction approach for the synthesis of metal nanoparticles, which are stable even after 30 days without a stabilizing agent. Additionally, the effects of hydroxyl scavengers (isopropyl alcohol) and Fenton's reagent (Fe2+ salt) on CV degradation are studied
